Vedic Astrology uses Moon for giving general prediction, based on the Daily or Weekly Transit of Planets, unlike the Date of Birth basing on the position of the Sun, used by most of the Western Astrologers. Sun takes about 30 days to move in a Sign of the Zodiac of 30 Degrees, and millions of people are born in this one one month, and it is meaningless to have the same prediction for all these people. Is it not?
So we in India following Vedic Astrology, narrow it to 2 and half days for a Moon to travel in a sign of 30 degrees. So where is 30 days and where is 2.5 days. it is narrowed to 1/12th of the accuracy.
But Vedic Astrology also specifies to take the Ascendant sign, or Lagna also into consideration. Lagna moves at the rate of about 2 Hours in a sign , thus still refining the Prediction.
So with my experience in Vedic Astrology, I advice people to read the General predictions given in a Magazine or Newspaper, with reference to your Moon Sign and the Ascendant or Lagna instead of Sun signs followed by westerners, using your Date of Birth.
